Blog Post #30 – June 27, 2017

Greetings Pogo,

Welcome to Pogo Insider blog number 30. (Wowza, 30? I can’t believe we’re there already!) How was your first week of summer?! Honestly, my first week of summer was spent playing Poppit! Bingo. I literally just went up to Rank 19 and opened up the Mount Everest room. (I reached Rank 19 just minutes ago). My first collectible was the donkey, which, in a sense, is close to a llama…right? But wait! A stuffed llama is one of the collectibles in room 11, Machu Picchu! Talk about a goal to shoot for….

Reminder

Don’t forget to make sure you’re caught up on all your Crossword Cove crossword puzzles, as the format will switch over on August 1. You can read more about that here.

Sneak Peek

There’s a chance you may have seen this sneak peek in last week’s Pogo Insider so, in short, here’s a re-sneak peek! This is the freebie Mini we’ll be having for the Amazing Mini show this coming Thursday, June 29 at 2 PM PT.

Pogo_Rachael created this friendly mini item and this is what she had to say about it….

“We wanted to create a Mini that both American and Canadian players would enjoy for our Firework-themed Amazing Mini Shows, so what better way to do that than to give our pal Nestor some fun sparklers to play with!”

Join us this Thursday, June 29 at 2PM PT for the next Amazing Mini show in Bingo Luau. The theme is….”Fireworks in the Sky.” Let’s celebrate summer together!

Happy 150th Birthday, Canada!

One of the best things about Pogo is that we have players from all over the world. AND, it just so happens that just around the corner, on July 1, Canada will have its 150th birthday and Pogo would like to celebrate!

Did you all know that Pogo has an office in Montreal, Canada? It’s true, we do! One of our very own Pogo peeps works with us from that office. So, without further ado, here is a Q&A session I recently had with Pogo_Geneviève!

Pogo_Llama: Thank you very much for chatting with me here for the Pogo Insider. We have a number of Canadian Pogoians and we would love to give them all a shout out here right now. (Hi!)  As you are in Canada yourself, can you tell us what it is you do for Pogo? Can you give us some examples?

Pogo_ Geneviève: Hi everyone, my name is Geneviève, I’m from Montreal and I’ve been working for Pogo as a Graphic Designer for the past 6 (almost 7) years! I have so much fun working at Pogo. The work I’ve done for Pogo really runs the gamut. I work on marketing campaigns (like, say, some of the special pages we’ve had for Halloween or for Valentine’s Day). On top of that, I also help to create the design for projects like Pogo Tournaments. It’s very nice to have the opportunity to work on user interface, and more illustrative visuals as well.

Pogo_Llama: What’s your favorite Pogo game?

Pogo_ Geneviève: This is a tough one because it changes all the time as we have so many fun ones! These days, I’m enjoying the new Poppit! Party a lot. I also really like Solitaire Gardens. Claire Hart has a special place in my heart since it’s the first game I worked on at Pogo.

Pogo_Llama: What is your favorite Badge or piece of art you’ve created?

Pogo_ Geneviève: There was one project I worked on two years ago that I had such a blast working on called The “Halloween Pogo Hideway”.

Brainstorming the concept and working with my peers on animating our favorite Pogo characters was a blast. There were a lot of illustrations which were challenging with the time given and which I couldn’t complete all by myself. It was a great project, and a great team effort.

Pogo_Llama: What are you going to do for Canada’s 150th birthday?

Pogo_ Geneviève: As you can tell from my Mini outfit, I’ll definitely go camping during the weekend near a lake, canoeing and hiking (mosquitoes will be swarming, but eh it’s summer, right?). Although, there is a huge three day celebration in Ottawa, the capital. As I have family there, and I go camping nearby, I may swing by and enjoy the festivities.

Happy 150th, Canada!

Every week I answer a question or two (non-technical) related to Pogo. We get lots of questions every week, so I try to focus on common themes or the same question coming from different folks. To submit your questions for the Pogo Insider, click here!

(For technical issues, please go to Pogo’s Help Page.

Q. Can you please extend the Java re-release sale?

A. YES! Due to (very) popular demand, we have decided to extend the Java Badge re-release sale through July 4. What’s been your favorite Java re-release Badge? Thank you to all who requested extending the Java Badge re-release sale!

Thanks for stopping by the Pogo Insider for the 30th blog post. It’s amazing you’re here! You know what else is…..amazing? Our Amazing Mini show on Thursday! (See what I did there? Hahaha).

Once again, I’d like to offer a happy birthday to Canada and I hope all of our Canadian players enjoy their special day. Oh! And I have a Canadian history in my own background. My great grandfather was from Canada! He came down to Wisconsin when he was just seven years old but before that, he was living in Saskatchewan. I’ve never visited Saskatchewan myself, but I sure would like to. And my Canadian dream destination has always been to go to Prince Edward Island, as I was a big Anne of Green Gables fan in my youth.

Thank you ALL who play Pogo, no matter if you are near or far from Pogo’s roots here in America, we appreciate you and love it that you’re here.

Cheers,
Pogo_Llama

  • Can you tell us what the game of the month for July? Thank You!

  • I love my pogo!!!!! Thank you very much! Sincerely, Wldct7

  • Hello all, I hope some one can help me.I would like to know why i can’t play some of the Pogo games. since yesterday i was unable to play certain games. When i click on the game it change screen then it sits, i look half way on said screen and see a pad lock saying, albums and games are (lock). The pad lock was there. Please help me. Thank you.

    • Hi Tdlfrancis,
Are you playing on Google Chrome? If so, there was an update to that browser yesterday which has resulted in loading issues for some of Pogo games. We are working on a fix to this, but in the meantime, please use another browser such as Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Internet Explorer. We are very sorry and thank you for reporting this.

  • Please don’t remove crossword cove thank you

    • Oh! No worries and sorry for any confusion. Please understand Crossword Cove is not being removed. What is happening is that the style is switching versions, but you will still be able to play Crossword Cove.

      • I am loving the new idea for crossword cove. I lived in the UK for many years and miss these harder crosswords.

        • Thank you for your comment, Sanmcann! I’m happy to hear you’re excited for the UK style.

    • I play Crossword Cove EVERY day. I don’t like the new UK format and will not play it. Offering both (like switching backgrounds)would be best option for all. Why would you change a great game. Otherwise, I am sadly done with this game.

    • For some reason, the area where you discuss Crossword Cove is changing to the UK version will not let me post my thoughts. I like it the way it is and would prefer two versions, keep the US and offer both.

  • I cannot buy gems. For the last two days I have been unsuccessful. I use them on many games and have purchased quite a few over the years. Marmalmar. Nothing has changed from my side. TU

    • Please contact Pogo customer support regarding this issue. You can do so by clicking here. Thank you.

  • I find the new monkey Gems is to fast and you can’t even get to the red ones until the 3rd game.
I hope you do not continue having this as a badge earner. It is far to time consuming. as every time you fail you have to start over.

  • Adults pay for these games. Some of these challenges are geared toward a younger audience. I have been playing your games for many years. I might be reconsidering my renewal of my subscription. I have tried to contact customer service for help. don’t get anywhere.

    • Hi Rosie,
Thank you for your feedback. Which Challenges did you find geared towards a younger audience? Please let me know and I will pass those examples along. Thank you for being a part of the Pogo community.

  • Happy Birthday Canada. Our family has vacationed there for many years. PEI, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Niagara Falls, also Montreal and Quebec, and Vancouver.I reread with pleasure all my old Anne of Green Gables books before our first time visit to Prince Edward Island (PEI). I find Canada so beautiful and relaxing. So, Happy Birthday!!

  • How do you give A gift subscription to A person who is already A Member?

    • Hiya sleeper52569,
If you click on this link, it’ll take you to the place you need to go to gift a subscription to a person who is already a member. Thank you very much.

  • I was very disappointed that there were no new Canadian mini items this year. It may be the first time! I used to buy all the July 4th challenges and one time, a Canadian badge was promised but it never happened. I joined Club Pogo as soon as it started and I’ve heard all the excuses lol I may have to break my own rule and buy this year’s July 4th challenge, looks like a nice badge!

    • Hi duffer755,

Thanks for letting me know about your disappointment over the Canadian Mini items this year. I do apologize and am looking forward to next year and will see what we can do. Happy birthday to Canada!

  • ive been a member for many years and the most part it has been a joy but i am really questioning how someone who is down right cheating by using a cheat bot and was reported nothing was done over this. the part that really pisses me off is this player is in a tournament room and cheating all the players who do play fair. whats the point in trying to play when you dont stand a chance against people cheating. dont care what you say no player can have millions and billions of tokens that play far. really disappointed how pogo has handled this matter.

    • Hi dixiesky1,
Cheating on Pogo in any form is not supported and something I have zero tolerance for. I will investigate this. Thank you for reporting it.

  • How come the new game Phlinx 2 only goes up to 50 levels. I already achieved this. Can you make it to 100?

    • Hiya Jermoechief,
Thanks for your question. As of today, the top rank in Phlinx II is rank 50. We are working to add more in the future, but for now, the top is 50. Congratulations on reaching the top rank of one of Pogo’s newest games. That is amazing!.

  • Yes please. I among other players had problems playing the Pogo Summer Event (Theme Fireworks in the Sky ) I was in the room of only a few people, and was in the correct room required to play the game in Bingo Luau . Every time one game would end it would freeze up.. Having to go back out and come back in. So that would have been against the rules of the game, to stay in the room while playing and not to be doing that. But I had no choice. I also would do it after a spin. Others were having the same problem. I know the game is for fun and I wanted to play and have fun and show off my MINI. But being booted out all the time was a mess. So sorry POGO, but it seems if you are going to have a Special event, that you would be sure that the game was properly working.
    Sincerely

    • Thank you for reporting this, ams. And thanks for trying to participate in the Amazing Mini show last week.

  • I too will not play monkey gems for the same reason

  • what happen to the mix match badges that come out on the first of the month not doin that anymore?

    • Hi roost525,
The first Thursday of the month is time for Badge Magic. For more information on Badge Magic, please click here. Thanks.

  • Since Java seems to becoming phased out on most browsers, any chance you will be switching some of your Java games over to flash? There are several I enjoy playing, but cannot play them on Chrome or Edge.

    • Hi there mamabear,
Yes, absolutely the team here at Pogo is investigating and actively looking into the process of moving over some of the Java games to HTML 5. Another thing to know is that I will be updating here in the Pogo Insider when I receive updates about this as I want to keep the Pogo community informed as much as possible. Thank you for asking.

  • monkey gems was awful for anyone with any mobility problems because of the speed and therefore clicking or moving the mouse was difficult. I have to admit I gave up but a very dear friend of mine finished it for me otherwise it would never have gotten done.

    • Hello ForEvrNeverEnds,
Thank you for reporting the issues those with mobility problems are experiencing with the Monkey Gems Wednesday Challenge. I am very sorry to hear about the challenges to the challenges. I will pass this along and keep this in mind for the future. Thank you for being a part of the Pogo community.

  • It says I need Adobe and Flash Player but I have Windows 10 and it said flash player was integrated into it so I have the Flash Player. So would you write that down so I don’t have to keep fighting with it. I love Pogo!

  • been three days now I can not play very few games, can not play any of my tournament games. they will not load. I have made three phone calls, will this be fixed?

  • Got all the costumes in Poppit Party! And even managed to get all the gold badges for now.

    • That’s excellent! Congratulations!!! Soooo happy to hear you’re enjoying Poppit! Party.

  • Happy Independence Day tomorrow to my neighbours to the south. I wish you all a fun and safe holiday.
