Club Pogo Member Memories: Meet Ffmed124!

Continuing with our festivities, we’re showcasing some of our long time and loyal Club Pogo members! Today we meet Mike from Ohio!

First name: Mike

Screen name: Ffmed124

Tell us a little bit about yourself: I am a career Firefighter / Paramedic and currently hold the position of Captain at our Fire Department.  I have lived in Ohio for the majority of my life but I was born in Bangor Maine.  I still have a lot of family that live in Maine so I enjoy going back up there every few years to visit.

I have two cats who are brothers that I acquired about 4 years ago after my sister couldn’t find homes for them so I took both of them so they could stay together, their names are Spanky and Scooter.

I enjoy doing the weekly challenges and have purchased many Premium Badge Albums along with Mix-n-Match Albums.  My favorite game is CLUE: Secrets & Spies, the new challenges can’t come quick enough for me.  Sure hope they start putting them out a little faster.  Turbo 21 is a very close second favorite game although there are many that I really enjoy playing along with a couple that I hate (ha ha).

I always played the free version through AOL when I met someone in Bingo one day who sent me a guest pass and from that point on, I was hooked.  I purchased a membership and have continued it through the years and have become very good friends with Kim, the person who sent me the guest pass in the first place.  Although Kim and I have never meet in person, we continue to chat via messenger services and e-mail to this date.  Our friendship is one that I cherish dearly and it amazes me that it all started from a simple Bingo game, who knew?  I think somethings are just meant to be, I think the world of her.  I have also been fortunate enough to become friends with a few others that I continue to keep in contact with.

In 2007, I was lucky enough to be in the player spotlight and have recently received the 1000th Weekly Special Edition Badge.  I have enjoyed all my time on Club Pogo and look forward to new challenges, games, and features that are yet to come.  I hope that they offer more CLUE Secrets & Spies Challenges and put them out a little quicker ( hint, hint), they can’t come out quick enough.

State, Province or Country? Ohio, USA

Astrological sign? Aries

How long have you been playing on Club Pogo? Almost 10 years, I believe.

What was your first impression of Club Pogo? I was very impressed by the graphics and the layout compared to the free AOL versions.

What was the first Club Pogo Badge you earned? Other than the Official Club Pogo Member Badge, I earned the “Bonsai Badge” in Pop Fu.

What is your favorite Club Pogo game? CLUE: Secrets & Spies

What game do you find most fun for doing Club Pogo Challenges? CLUE or Turbo 21

What’s your favorite looking Club Pogo Badge? I like them all

Club Pogo has lots of features – Challenges, messaging, exclusive games, ad-free gaming… which is your favorite? I really enjoy the challenges with the ad free gaming

Do you have a favorite room? If so, which is it and in what game? Not really

Who are your favorite Pogo characters? Tiki Bros

What goes on in your mind when you’re deciding how to dress your Mini? I usually try and dress with the season

Have you made any long-term friends on Club Pogo? Yes, I have been fortunate enough to have become friends with a  few people who I continue to chat with today but have never met in person.  Kim, screen name njredhead08752 being the longest.

Did you attempt to do the Quackadoodle Challenge before it was changed?  Yes I did, that has to be the all time hardest challenge to this day.

What makes you a unique Club Pogo fan? I have been a loyal Pogo player for years and always willing to help others earn their badge if they are having troubles with a challenge but I find many others who would do the same so that really isn’t unique.

Do you ever eat while you play? If so, what’s a favorite “Club Pogo” food? Twizzlers but any snack food works

Do you read the Pogo News? If so, what do you like most about it? Yes, it’s nice to keep up on up coming events or any browser or game issues.

Popping balloons, swapping candy, or playing cards? Hmm, cards!

Challenge Wednesday or Mini Thursday?  Definitely Challenge Wednesday

Puzzle Games, Board Games, Word Games, Card Games or Solitaire? I like them all really.

  • congrats on the 10yrs and also wiv the 1000th badge.

  • Hey Mike, Way to go and “Happy 10th Pogo Anniversary”!
I also want to say thank you for your giving by being a fire fighter here in Ohio!
You are another great hero right here in the “Buckeye” State!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very nice of you to share your thoughts on the last ten years.

  • Hey Mike!! July 6, 2013 4:26PM
I don’t really know you but got caught up in your story so thought I’d say Hi. I’m lucylu1833245
Awhile ago I was just lucylu1833 then I got hacked so lost my original name and 92million tokens.
I was so upset about their lack of problem solving that I have been only half hearted interested in playing the games. I live in central Texas.

    • Lucylu, sorry to hear about your bad experience, hope things got worked out.

  • Congrats, Mike for being featured. Thank you for your dedication to saving/helping people thru your firefighting and paramedic work. I live in California. A paramedic saved my life in 2003. So, I have a soft spot in my heart for paramedics. I am still trying to figure POGO out. I have done all the weekly badges that pogo has put out. I still haven’t been able to find the 1000th badge everyone is talking about. Is it because I didn’t start the year POGO started? I did some of the badges as Personal badges? Also, they talk about daily activities. I guess you were the activity for the 5th. lol Seems to be nothing for the 6th.

    • Hi Lura, thanks for your comments. To get the 1000th badge you had to complete 1000 weekly challenges.

      • Thank you, Mike, but I know that. If I have done every weekly badge that POGO has put out, then I must have at least 1000 (even if some were accomplished as personal badges). Right? Where do I find the badge?

  • w2g mike loved the story, it happens just like that! my cousin turned me onto it 3 yrs ago. I get memberships free thru coke rewards (fyi) save your hard earned money!…ever been leaguer, if not check out my profile link is there just a friendly little group, hagd and wtg!!

  • Hello Mike!

You have a wonderful story! I admire and appreciate that you’re a firefighter and paramedic as it takes a special person to handle that. Congratulations on 10 years with Pogo. Nice to have a “place” to go to unwind for awhile.

    Celebrate!

  • Every day huh?
“We have something fun planned for you every day this July.”

It’s the sixth and nothing new today..

    Lies…

    BTW, Congrats!

    • Hi Ashley, Although this is spot is to be about Mike i will answer your question. The planned fun today is Big City Adventure – Bonus! Where you can picked up 5,000 tokens just going to the game. Hope you see this before to late to collect the tokens. :)

      • Hi beauty….I do know this section is suppose to be about Mike. And I left my comments concerning him earlier. He seems like he is a super guy. But, where should we ask the question? There is nothing on the 10 year anniversary page to indicate there is a Big Adventure bonus. How were we suppose to figure it out? Guess?

      • What out for today?

  • close my account. I pay every month and now I can not bring my account up. I can`t even play. I have no password and never had one. I have over 4 million tokens. I do not want to lose not one. Annie85285. is all i have.”I expect a answer now.”

  • Hi Mike! Congratulations on being a 10 year club member and Thank You for your service as a firefighter. Here’s to another ten! ☺

  • Hi Mike. Congrats on your 10yrs. Thank you for your service as a firefighter. My cousin is a firefighter. Happy gaming. Good Luck to you. Kimmy

  • Nice job and story Mike. Being a long timer on Pogo I could relate to lots of stuff you had to say. I did get a big laugh when you mentioned Kim’s Pogo name. I just wonder how much junk mail she will get from that. I also know what you mean about the helping with the games. Thanks so much for all you do here and in your life. What a great man you are.

    • John,
Thanks. Thats is an old name for Kim which she no longer uses so it shouldn’t be a problem.

  • All I can say Mike is I am proud of you and if i were ever in an accident.I would love to look up and see your sweet face. Stay safe Gina

  • Great story Mike. Congrats on your 10th year anniversary and for being in the spotlight. You deserve it. My son-in-law is a volunteer firefighter and has been for 20 years now, since he was 18 years old. Would love to add you to my friends list if you don’t mind. I like the daily challenges and the weekly Wednesday ones as well. I am sure I could use your help with some of the games. :) Happy Pogoing!!

  • Since POGO must really like you, why don’t you ask them for more Ranks In Turbo?? Please & Thank You & Good Luck To You.

    Sandy

    • Thanks Sandy, you too. I just happened to be picked for the spotlight, I’m not anything special, honestly!

  • TYVM Mike for the wonderful job You do. Many of times have had the rescued squad at my house for my son. they were always so kind and understanding. I wish I could do something special for them. I do give ever time they call fir Christmas money for a family. Do it for the fire fighters and the police dept. I can’t say “””” THANK YOU””””” enough. May God bless You and watch over You Cathy screen name tedybear4 you for the teddy bear run so children can get them, in time of saddest.

  • Hi Mike!

So nice to see you spotlighted by Pogo! I’m a long time player also and love it! Thank you for choosing to be a fireman…the hardest job on earth! Good luck in all your game playing and I hope they give you more Clue games soon :-)

    Kitty

  • Thank you for all you do for us Mike. What a great story and it sounds as tho you truly enjoy what you do. What a gratifying job you must have. I have a son-in-law who is a Battalion Chief here in Washington State and I can appreciate your job even more. You are the ones first on the scene and like my son-in-law, I can see the toll it sometimes takes on him. He NEVER speaks of his work and what they see when they get to a “situation” but I know it presses hard upon his soul. He fishes for his “get-away”, so I’m glad you have Pogo for your release. Keep up the good work and stay safe. God Bless you in all you do, boomersmom1

  • Great you being a 10 year member. I just want to know why I didn’t get the 10 year anniversary badge, I have all my badges done in every year. Can someone help me out here???? I sure would like to have the badge

    • Thanks Judy, not sure why you didn’t get the badge, try emailing Pogo.

  • hi mike it was very nice to read about a fellow pogo player.I am from MAINE about an 1 and half from Bangor.

  • Thank You, Mike for the opportunity of reading all about you. We have lost 19 of our men up north in the big fire and I pray every day for their families and friends. That was a terrible loss to AZ and the firefighters. I have learned so much how the FF live and work together and everyone in our wonderful Nation has come together for our FF and also the people that lost their homes and belongings in the fire.
One time I had a very small heart attack and the men were there looking down at me when I came too and I thought I had died and gone to Heaven. You all are very dear to me and my family. I am a caregiver for 6 people over the age of 90 and when I call for help, you people are the kindest and dearest on earth. You are always very professional and I adore you all. THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE, Mike ! Vickie

  • lol Hi Mike. I never read this stuff, till now. Congrats on your 10 years! Im somwhere close although here n there my membership lapses for a short time. Over the years, if there is a particular game someone needs help with, I generally help out and for myself, I only do the badges for the games that I like….Congrats again and ty4 serving your area as a firefighter….tc and hage

  • Hi Mike I enjoyed reading your comments about yourself and is so nice you save people from fires and accidents. I live in Canada, a mother of 10, a jack of all trades and a master of one. My husband and I are both retired and love to travel during the summer. I have met 6 of my pogo friends and it is so nice when you talk to them after meeting them you seem to have so much more to tell them. I have 2 small dogs, a wolf sable Pomaranian, and a Eskpoo. She is part miniture American eskamoo and poodle, she is so homley she is cute and only a face a mother could love…lol I also ave a Main/Coon Manx, he is blacker than the ace of spades and his left front foot was broke at the puppy mill where I saved him from being killed. He is a one person cat and I am the one he loves. The lady you mentioned sounds like a real sweetie and hope you two meet and fall madley in love. Keep up the good work Mike. I am Canadian Native so we are called Metis. You will see by my mini that i have two teepees set up and my favorite horse close by. teepeecook4
