Club Pogo Member Memories: Meet Lady_CJ

The Club Pogo 10-Year Anniversary celebration continues with more spotlighted players! Today we meet Ruth, a Pogo player from the very, very beginning and one of our earliest Club Pogo subscribers.

First name:
Ruth

Screen name: Lady_CJ

Tell us a little bit about yourself: Hmmm. Well, I’m married to the love of my life (almost 40 years now). We have 1 son, 2 terrific grandchildren (11 and 13). We live in and love the quietness of country life. We have 3 dogs, 1 cat, and a parakeet. Our son and grandchildren live right next door to us, my sister and brother live up the road from us, so family is always nearby when needed.

I enjoy bird watching, especially after Spring arrives when the hummingbirds migrate back to our area. We get so many that it looks like a bee swarm at times, so I set out 5 feeders all around our yard. They are really amusing to watch.

State, Province or Country? Missouri

Astrological sign? Taurus

How long have you been playing on Club Pogo? I’ve been a Pogo member since August 30, 1998. But a CLUB Pogo member for about 9-10 years now.

What was your first impression of Club Pogo?

I loved it! I thought it was the coolest thing I ever saw LOL! The Bingo games were what really drew me to become a Club member. I LOVE bingo…LOL!

What was the first Club Pogo Badge you earned? I think it was a the “It’s Raining Carrots” in Word Whomp Whackdown. I really enjoyed playing that game LOL.

What is your favorite Club Pogo game? Hmmm, that’s a toughie. I guess it would have to be the old Word Whomp game. I love word games and will try to play a few rounds daily. I also love the hidden object games too.

What’s your favorite looking Club Pogo Badge? Oh that’s easy. Jigsaw Detectives, The Last Precious Thing, game award badge. I “wear” it a lot… LOL!

Club Pogo has lots of features – Challenges, messaging, exclusive games, ad-free gaming… which is your favorite? Oh, the challenges by far! And meeting up with a friend or 2 just to say howdy and catch up on how we’ve all been.

Do you have a favorite room? If so, which is it and in what game? No, not really. I just roll with the flow more or less.

Who’s your favorite Pogo character? Oh, it’s GOT to be the ONE that everyone hates and that’s Dotty in Fortune Bingo LOL! With her meatball hair and annoying voice LOL.

What goes on in your mind when you’re deciding how to dress your Mini? It depends on the time of year, events coming up in the family or just expressing a mood.

Do you have a favorite Club Pogo memory? If so, describe it…I met a very nice lady here in Pogo when I was going through some health problems. She took it upon herself to ask me what was going on, and she was a very good ‘listener’ and helped me get through some rough patches, and eased my mind when it came to medications I was having doubts about. She works in the medical field and I value her opinion. we chat with one another to this day in MSN Messenger.

Have you made any long-term friends on Club Pogo? Yes I have. I had some friends from “another” chat and game site that migrated over her to Pogo. We see one another occasionally and play catch up.

Did you attempt to do the Quackadoodle Challenge before it was changed? Well, I did attempt doing it and just kept on it till I got what needed to be done to complete it. (I really DO hate that game too by the way) LOL.

Have you ever forgotten to do something important because you lost track of time on Club Pogo? Well, yes and no. I would lose track of time just enjoying playing whatever game I was doing, but never forgot anything important.

What makes you a unique Club Pogo fan? Hard to say. I don’t really consider myself “unique”, I just enjoy coming into Pogo daily and play a few games. It’s MY entertainment, since I’m not able to really get out and do like I used to. And, as said earlier, I’ve got quite a few years invested in Pogo. I’ve been here ever since it was a newbie site and watched it grow into what it is today.

Do you ever eat while you play? If so, what’s a favorite “Club Pogo” food? I’d be lying if I said I didn’t… LOL.  Hmmm, favorite food? Don’t really have a favorite… I just eat at my desk if I’m the last one at the table…LOL. I figure I may as well sit here as any place else.

Do you read the Pogo News? If so, what do you like most about it? Yes I do. I read EVERYTHING! That’s how I learn about what’s going on with the site, games, or questions players ask Ms. Nettie or the Editor. I find it interesting reading and more players should stay ‘in the know’ with it.

Popping balloons, swapping candy, or playing cards? I’d rather be playing cards. LOL.

Challenge Wednesday or Mini Thursday?  Challenge Wednesday.

Puzzle Games, Board Games, Word Games, Card Games or Solitaire? I like the puzzle, board, word, and card games.

Do you have any additional thoughts or anything else you’d like to tell us? I think what you all do here in Pogo is amazing! The way you bring it all together with the animations, the badges, the games, the sound affects, etc. I could go on and on.

  • Hi Ruth,
Thanks for sharing your story! It was an awesome read. A friend introduced me to pogo and the rest is history. A bunch of us got together in a room called Internet Angels. We call ourselves the Internet Angels. We celebrate a pogo friends birthday. If someone is going through a rough patch we call upon the ANGELS. We encourage each. we have even had the DJ come live to our events. It’s not just a place to play games. My bucket list is to meet my favorite pogo buddy.
It’s JUSTADUCKYDOO from NY. Like yourself we have kept in contact since meeting. Thnaks again for sharing your inspiring story.

  • I enjoyed reading all about you in the spotlight. Congrats on your nearly 10 yrs. with Pogo too. Sounds like you have a lovely, close family. My family is all close as well, and know how important and comforting that feels. Good Luck and Keep on Pogo-ing!! :)

  • Pogo keeps me busy from early morning until mid evening. It has filled my days of retirement with relaxation and keeps my brain busy. Even when we travel our lap top serves as my “down time” enjoyment. Thank you for all that you do.

  • What a nice article and the questions were answered just like I would have answered almost.
You are a wonderful Pogo member and I hope to play bingo with you sometimes. I mostly get on after midnight. Have a wonderful day.-Thanks Girdienadine

  • Nice article! I found it quite interesting and enjoyed learning about others who play on Pogo. Interaction with other players can be very rewarding and it’ obviously you found that out. The games are very stimulating for the mind, it helps keep us seniors from from loosing that gray matter, LOL. Congratz and stay well my friend.

  • Sorry to disturb everyone, but what is Quackadoodle? Is that the game that is now called Quick Quack?

    • Quackadoodle was a horrific badge in Quick Quack that I completed for two accounts before Pogo changed the requirements and made it easier. Boy, was I hot over that!

Ruth, I really enjoyed your profile. Congrats and continue to have fun in Pogo.
