Player Spotlight – daddysgrrl74

First name:
 Natalie

Screen name: daddysgrrl74

Tell us a little bit about yourself :

I live in Florida but am originally from the greatest state in the union, Idaho.  I’m 41, married and have two children ages 22 and 21.  I also have four cats and a dog who thinks he’s a cat.  I listen to all sorts of music but avoid Norwegian Death Metal and Ragtime.  My favorite song right now is Uptown Funk and favorite song ever is For What It’s Worth.  I make the best white peach sangria on planet (tip – add some vanilla.)

State, Province or Country?  FL

Astrological sign? Pisces

What do you usually play on Pogo.com? Jungle Gin, Tri-Peaks solitaire, Everyone Wins Bingo

What did you have for breakfast this morning? 5 cups of coffee

Do you have a life philosophy? Said by John Wayne:  Life is hard.  It’s harder if you’re stupid.

What is your favorite Pogo.com game? Everyone Wins Bingo

What’s your favorite TV show? The Jinx

What’s your favorite drink? Coffee most of the time but I’ll also take a glass of Pappy Van Winkle straight up.

What’s your favorite season? Autumn

Apart from Pogo, what are your hobbies? I quilt, sew, knit, embroider (all the granny crafts) and I read voraciously.

What’s the last good book you read? Just re-read the Dark Tower series.  Awesome stuff.

Who’s your hero or heroine and why? My Grandfather.  He was just amazing.  I learned how to do almost everything from him and still carry each life lesson with me

If you could be invisible for a day, what would you do? Touch people and make ghost noises.

If you could gently remove any celebrity from the spotlight, who would it be? Kanye West

Do you have a clean joke you can share with us? What did the worker at the rubber band factory say when he lost his job?  “Oh Snap!” <insert groan and eye roll here>

How long have you been playing Pogo? 11 years

What makes you a unique Pogo fan? I don’t know!  I hoard my tokens and play like a champ just like everyone else! lol

I can usually be found on Pogo.com playing: Playing Jungle Gin

Coffee, tea, or soda? Coffee.  Give me that sweet liquid crack.

Sugary treats or salty treats? Sugary.

Cat, dog or small rodent? Cats or dogs.  I have both.  NO RODENTS, INSECTS or REPTILES.

If you could remove any emotion from mankind, which one would you choose? I don’t know if I would remove emotions – they all serve a purpose, but I would remove self doubt.  We are all capable of greatness and we should embrace it.

  • What a great spotlight! I love that your dog thinks he’s a cat. And I love your John Wayne philosophy. Great reading about you. Hope to see you sometime on Everyone Wins Bingo!

  • Nice profile. I’m with you on Kanye and I would also include his wife and her family!

  • Natalie, you are hilarious. I wish you were my next door neighbor. LOL

  • very good !!

  • Hello Fellow Floridian! Ahhh, coffee in the am, sweet tea in the afternoon, and bourbon in a cup straight up at night. Southern girls rule! Those three games are some of my favorite, also. I applaud your wish to remove self doubt. We ARE capable of greatness. It is the hardest thing to do – believe in ourselves. Nice meeting you.

  • Hi,love your story. You sound like a nice,down-to-earth person. I think you might like to read the”MA” SERIES OF BOOKS BY MarthalONG. fIRST BOOKS IN A LONG TIME THAT I LITERALLY COULD NOT PUT DOWN.tHERE ARE 7 OF THEM. I’m GOING TO READ THE BOOKS YOU MENTIONED,SOUNDS GOOD. sTAY SWEET-bEARLY57

  • Nice meeting you Natalie. Not sure on Norwegian Death Metal but try the Norwegian Black Metal. Its very cool !!!

    • Potato, potaaahto…lol I swear I want to stab my ears with a fork when I hear it.

  • Great profile! We have so many things in common! Coffee, cats, Stephen King, Jungle Gin….. love all that stuff. Nice to meet you. :)

  • Hi Natalie, Great spotlight. I also live in Florida, was born & raised in Miami, went to Georgia for awhile, and now am back but much more north. I feel the way you do about Kanye West. I have also read the Gunslinger series multiple times. I still have them in a box in storage – Stephen King is the man. And as for your philosophy….there must be a lot of people out there for which life is hard (I have met a few of them). Hope your day is awesome.

  • Cats yes.Tats no.

    • I guess I probably should tell you that I have tats too. In fact, if you look closely at my pic, you will see a beee-you-tiful koi fish….in. my. ear. You should get one. All newbies usually get a light saber and a Care Bear their first time.

  • I enjoyed reading your profile. You write very well. The thing that caught my eye are you favorite songs. Those are two of my favorites, as well. It is great that Pogo posts Player Spotlight as it is always great to get to know about so many others. Have a great weekend.

  • Welcome Natalie… I had never heard the John Wayne saying… thought it was pretty funny. I also was a daddy’s girl… everyone knew it. I actually had a haunted experience once. A young lady had got hit by a car in an area where I have to pass to go to work. Around 2 days later I saw a young lady partially in the road (around dawn).. I went to the left lane to go around her… when I immediately looked into the rear view she had vanished. I stopped the car..looked.. there was no where she could have gone because of how the road was. I shook all the way to work. So you could have made me scream LOUD if you were invisible for a day..lol Welcome…

  • Enjoyed your comments….thanks for sharing!!!!

  • Hi. Congrats on making the Spotlight. I particularly like your (and John Wayne’s) philosophy…it’s funny with a modicum of truth!

  • Nice Profile Natalie

  • Congrats on being in the Spotlight!

  • Love love love your response to the last question. You’re one smart lady.

  • liked your philosophy. But how about removing all the Kardashians too?

  • Nice profile. Thank you for sharing.

  • Congratulations on being the Player in the Spotlight! You have an awesome bio and sound like a very interesting person! I agree with just about everything you like / said, but I’ll have to look up Pappy van Winkle. ;) Lucky–no, blessed I’d say–to have had a Grandfather willing to spend time with you and teach you things. :)

And about coffee; I’m drinking my sweet liquid crack as I write! Oh, snap! :D

    Have a great day! :)

    Dee

  • Love your profile! I finished book 4 in the Dark Tower series and look forward to book 5. I, too, am a voracious reader with a special fondness for fantasy.

    • If you are on book four, hold onta your hat, because it’s about to get really interesting!

  • Congtats on making it to the spotlight. Cool profile.

  • Nice to meet you Natalie, thanks for the joke needed the LOL moment. John Wayne is 1 of my most favorite actors (Jimmy Stewart, Clark Gable, Lee Marvin…they just don’t make them like they use to) Wayne was and is a true American, just out of curiosity which film is a favorite? I know he made many great films, but I think if I had to choose mine would be The Quiet Man (Maureen O’Hara is 1 of my favorites as well) Your grandfather would be proud to know his lessons are still with you, and I do have to agree that Idaho is a very nice state. Very friendly people there, am hoping to go back there to do some more exploring there.

Hope you enjoy your spotlight time, and as John also said “tomorrow hopes we have learned something from yesterday”

    • I love The Quiet Man, but I think my favorite is McClintock, also with Maureen O’Hara. And if you are heading back to Idaho, I highly recommend my favorite part of the state, Island Park. Make sure you stay at Mack’s Inn, and tell em Kathy’s daughter sent ya.

  • Hello Natalie, Thanks for the nice belly laugh when I read your philosophy! So very true. Have a good one.

  • Nice to meet you Natalie, you have a great personality. Have a great weekend.

  • You’re the first Spotlight person I’ve replied to. Liked your story, and brava for the comment about self-doubt. You go girl!

  • Hi daddysgrrl74 I like your profile, I’m a reader too and Stephen King is my favourite author. We waited a long time for the end of the Dark Tower series and I liked them all except the end. The last one was sooo confusing, and the ending sucked lol. The Stand is my favourite. but all are good reads. I also watched The Jinx, hard to believe it is true. Hope to see you in Tri Peaks… God Bless.

    • I don’t think it could’ve ended any other way. I actually had a book hangover for about a week after I finished The Dark Tower the first time. I didn’t want to let those characters go….and really, after that ending, I don’t ever have to. :) “The Man in Black fled across the desert, and the Gunslinger followed.”

  • Hi Natalie! Your responses were clever. Your interview made me smile! What an interesting friend you must be. Best wishes; and, please continue your positive outlook! Cheers! war/Scott ;)

  • Hi Natalie, you sound like a very together person. I’m too a Pieces and old Buffalo Springfield fan (For What It’s Worth). I enjoyed your mini bio. Good luck gaming and I’m gonna try the vanilla.

    • I guess I’m what happens when two hippies breed – a sangria making, tempeh eating, Buffalo Springfield fan. I also recommend using Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum in the sangria – add about two cups to your fruit, wine, sugar, and vanilla if your are making a gallon. It really pumps the flavor!

  • Yes, girl, I could be friends with you.

  • Hi Ms Natalie: Great Spotlight – you sound like a fun lady and you are enjoying life – More Power to you. hanks again, r/de

  • Very interesting little read… thanks for sharing, you sound fun and “quirky”,,,lol, (quirky is good) makes life more interesting

    • You are so kind. Quirky, definitely. Weird, absolutely. Life is easily more interesting when you are juuuuuust a little bit left of center!

  • congratlation for being in the spotlight it was very interesting reading about you GBU and have a bless day

  • Hi Natalie, It sure was good to see someone besides myself feels that Idaho is the best state in the U S.I’m originally from Chicago, lived in Cal.,and then retired with my husband to Idaho 21 years ago.Its my heaven!!!Great profile! It’s very nice meeting you

  • Hi Natalie, you have a great flair for writing wish I did. I too have a great cat but she thinks she’s a dog LOL. John Wayne is my favorite too I guess because I’m 72 I like the old time “MOVIE STARS” not the stuff you see today. It was so refreshing to read your story, hope to bump into you in one of the rooms some day.
