Player Spotlight – Mookermom11

First name:   Rhona

Screen name:   Mookermom11

State, Province or Country? Ohio

Astrological sign?  Pisces

How long have you been playing on Pogo?   Sept 2005 was my first badge

What was your first memory of Pogo?  Well my best friend and my dad moved away (separate states) and I was looking for something to keep us together.  We have always liked games.  Gosh I played pinball in truck stops as a little kid with her dad.  We had PONG as a game on our TV!

How did you come across Pogo for the first time?  Gosh I think I was just looking for a good gaming site back in the day.

What was the first game you remember playing on Pogo?  It’s whatever was free.  Word Whomp, Poppit and Free Cell and Rainy Day I think.

What is your favorite Pogo game and why?  Hard question.  I love so many.   Canasta, Claire Hart but I’m such a badge freak.  Once I rank out I rarely play again.  I do wish for more penguin blocks ranks.  I loved that game.

What is your least favorite Pogo game and why?  Aces Up and Boggle.  I like boggle but I can’t chat and it makes me cranky.

Pogo has lots of features – Games, Chat, Friends, Tokens, Minis etc. … which is your favorite?  Badges baby…it’s all about badges!

What makes Pogo unique for you?  Badges and saying hello to my dad and my best friend Joanne.

Do you have a favorite room? If so, which is it and in what game? No I normally just play with robots unless I want to chat with dad or Joanne or my kids who are now addicted to Pogo.

We know Pogo’s has been around for 15 years! How has your life changed since 1999?  I retired!

Who’s your favorite Pogo character?  I don’t have one.  They all make me smile.

What goes on in your mind when you’re deciding how to dress your Mini?  Not much.  I just do it from time to time so I don’t look stupid with a Christmas background in April.

Do you have a favorite Pogo memory?  Yes.  I was the one begging you folks for an old fishing hat for my Dad…one way before Zazzle took over.  He loves that hat and wore it out over all the years.  He’s 80 and man if you know 80 year olds…they want what they want!  I’ll never forget all your kindness in helping me get him that HAT!  I truly love all you folks because it’s the first time I saw you as people and not just a company.  It made me realize that the hearts behind the mini’s are kind beyond belief.

Have you made any long-term friends on Pogo?  Yes and I adore them very much.

Do you do the daily Challenges? No.  I would if I got a badge but tokens are so meaningless to me.

Are you a Club Pogo member? Why or why not? If you are Club Pogo member, what about Club Pogo enticed you to join?  You bettcha.  Heck I even figured out to get a 6 month membership with my coke rewards!

Have you ever forgotten to do something important because you lost track of time on Pogo?  Oh I’m sure too many to mention!

What makes you a unique Pogo fan?  Nothing that I can think of.

Do you ever eat while you play? If so, what’s a favorite “Pogo” food?  Always!  Nachos, pot roast, whatever!

Do you read the Pogo News? If so, what do you like most about it?  Yes.  Always.  Well I had a hard time letting tahd go.  I just loved his wit and kindness.  He was always so nice when I wanted to call people idiots or something totally insensitive.  But I do realize Pogo is just as lovely with its new editor and quite capable of caring as well.  Heck plus you give a lot of good news and are much more current when something isn’t quite working right.  I like that.

Popping balloons, swapping candy, or playing cards?  Cards

Do you attend Amazing Mini shows? Why or why not?  Nope.  I am not creative enough.  They sure are fantastic though.

Puzzle Games, Board Games, Word Games, Card Games or Solitaire?  Love them all.

Have you ever had a life changing moment on Pogo?  Dad and his Hat!

Do you have any additional thoughts or anything else you’d like to tell us?  Can’t think of anything.  After typing all of this I just feel kind of boring so thanks for reading it!

  • I love the Dad & hat story! Isn’t it great to be able to get someone the thing they really want – you & the Pogo team really joined forces on that one. Your attitude is so upbeat, Rhona – hope I run into you sometime! Thanks for a great way to begin a weekend & good luck to you, your dad & Joanne.

  • Congrats on being in the spotlight! It wasn’t boring reading at all…very nice, in fact. My dad is 80 yrs old, too.

  • I remember you requesting the fishing hat. I’m so glad to know that Pogo helped you get it for your Dad. That’s a fun story and a great memory for your family.
Also – I remember when hooking up Atari and playing Pong on the television made my jaw drop because it was such exciting technology back then :)

  • Aww – I actually got a little teary eyed reading this. I’m the best friend Joanne and I miss Rhona so dang much. Pogo has kept us together as best as it could, but I sure do miss just sitting across from the table and just chatting about anything and everything. Heck our lunches were never boring and people came up and just wanted to join us because we were having so much fun. Pogo has kept that fun alive. Miss you and so proud of you making the player spotlight! Love you sis!

    • This is like a double treat to meet both you and Rhona! You sound like such fun friends, Joanne – thanks for letting us hear from you, too.

  • Well thank you all for the positive comments you wrote. Gosh you folks are sweet. And trust me my Dad isn’t cranky at all. I would call him anything but cranky. He’s the sweetest guy I’ve ever met. I can’t believe he commented on here (chedsdad3)! And they don’t come any finer than Joanne (snfarawayplyr).

Ha ha…PONG man that brings back the memories. Hooked up to the TV with those dials..we spent so many hours perfecting our game! Well no matter the age bracket I do think Pogo pleases a lot of generations in just 15 years of business. Just ask my 11 yr old, my 23 yr old, my 50 friends and my 80 friends! Pogo isn’t perfect but it sure does bring us a lot of happiness.

Sorry the picture makes me look like a homeless person. (LOL) I really didn’t think I’d ever be considered for a spotlight player! I was just responding to the survey one day when I got bored and didn’t want to pay my bills!

Hope to see you getting your badges.
